Over 350 voters across Potter and Randall Counties cast write-in votes for president in 2024. Though only votes for qualified write-in candidates who filed with the State of Texas were officially counted, we put records requests for the full list. Here are the highlights:
As we previously reported, the American Solidarity Party’s Peter Sonski earned the highest number of write-ins of any qualified write-in across Potter and Randall, with a total of 43 votes. However, one non-qualified write-in candidate beat Sonski. Nikki Haley, who ran an unsuccessful primary bid for president against Donald Trump, received a total of 46 write-in votes.
Claudia De la Cruz, another qualified write-in who represented the Party for Socialism and Liberation, earned 18 votes.
In a three-way tie for fourth place were Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Jesus Christ, and various forms of “none of the above.” Each of these options received 17 votes, though none were qualified write-in options.
Cornel West, a qualified write-in representing the Justice for All Party, narrowly beat non-qualified candidate Ron DeSantis, with their respective totals coming to 14 and 11.
Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney each earned 7 votes. Paul Ryan, who was Romney’s running mate in 2012, earned five votes. Ben Carson, Condoleezza Rice, and Joe Manchin each received four votes.

Neither Cherunda Fox nor Jessie Cuellar, both of whom were qualified write-in candidates, earned any write-in votes across the two counties. There was also one additional hand-written write-in vote cast in Randall County that our editorial team was unable to decipher.
