The Libertarian Party of Texas met for its statewide convention over the weekend and nominated candidates for several statewide offices.
For the United States Senate, the Libertarian Party nominated Ted Brown as its nominee. Brown will face Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Democrat U.S. Rep. Colin Allred in the November election for the office.
In the race for Railroad Commissioner, Lynn “Hawk” Dunlap was nominated to represent the party in November. Dunlap will face Republican incumbent Christi Craddick and Democrat Katherine Culbert in the general election.
For the Texas Supreme Court, the party nominated Matthew Sercely and J. David Roberson for Places 4 and 6, respectively. Meanwhile, for the Court of Criminal Appeals, the party nominated Mark Ash and Stephan Kinsella for Places 7 and 8, respectively.
Locally, the Libertarian Party has also fielded candidates for two area offices. For U.S. House District 13, Mike Kolls will challenge U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson in November. Meanwhile, Libertarian Jack B. Westbrook will challenge Republican State Board of Education member Aaron Kinsey in the general election.
