A longtime staple of the Amarillo restaurant scene shut its doors for good on Sunday.
According to the company’s social media page, Malcolm’s Eats & Treats closed permanently on Sunday after its lunch service. In the social media post, the owners of Malcolm’s indicated that the flooding that impacted the restaurant last year and slow sales this year have contributed to the eatery’s closure.
The restaurant, perhaps best known for its large ice cream selection and popular chicken dishes, had been continuously in operation since 1986. Following the announcement of the restaurant’s closing, diners packed the restaurant on Saturday for one last dining experience at the location. According to wait staff, in the afternoon, the wait time for a table exceeded an hour.
