Amarillo City Council will hold a regular meeting on July 9th. Some highlights expected from the meeting include approving allocations for CDBG and HOME funds, approving a contract amendment to have move the first day of the new city manager to an earlier date, and presentation of a certification requesting an election on the Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance. You can read our full story on the meeting at this link.

July 23rd, 3:00 pm

The second regular meeting of July is expected to include calling an election, which will probably include formally calling the election for both the charter amendments and sanctuary city for the unborn ordinance. The council is also expected to receive a presentation on a forensic analysis on the spending of the 2016 Proposition 1 bond funds.

July 30th through August 2nd, 8:00 am

Amarillo City Council is expected to hold a four-day series of budget workshop meetings at the end of July and start of August. While members of the council have signaled a desire to not raise the tax rate more than the amount allowed by state law before requiring an election, if those plans change, they have until August 19th to call such an election. Additionally, eyes will be on incoming City Manager Grayson Path, who is expected to officially begin his new role on July 29th.
