Trump's Texas Lead Widens in New Poll

Former president Donald Trump is still holding a sizable lead over President Joe Biden in Texas, according a new poll from the Manhattan Institute.

According to the poll, Trump is ahead of Biden in the Lone Star State, 52-41 percent. When adding in the other candidates who will appear on the Texas ballot, Trump’s lead narrows slightly to nine points. Trump leads in a six-way race with 45 percent, followed by Biden at 36 percent, independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 7 percent, Libertarian Chase Oliver at 2 percent, independent Cornel West at 1 percent, and Green Jill Stein at 0 percent.

It is worth noting that the poll was conducted from June 25 through June 27, which puts the poll just slightly in the time frame before the first presidential debate between Biden and Trump was held on June 27th.

Trump’s nine-point lead is slightly higher than the last time the race was polled in mid-June. In that poll, conducted by the University of Texas at Tyler Center for Opinion Research, Trump was ahead of Biden 47-41 percent, with Kennedy at 8 percent.
