Former Vice President Joe Biden is leading the Democratic primary race in Texas, according to a brand new poll.
According to a new poll from the Dallas Morning-News released this week, Biden leads the presidential race in the Lone Star State with roughly 28 percent support. Rep. Beto O’Rourke comes in second with 19 percent, followed by Bernie Sanders at 16 percent, Elizabeth Warren at 14 percent, and Pete Buttigieg at 7 percent. Sen. Kamala Harris, businessman Andrew Yang, Sen. Cory Booker, and Sec. Julian Castro were the only other candidates to poll over 1 percent in the survey.
The poll also found in hypothetical statewide races, President Donald Trump leads all potential Democratic opponents, with the exception of Biden and Sanders. Both Biden and Sanders won 51 percent in the survey against Trump’s 49 percent, while Trump led all other match-ups, including against O’Rourke, who recently led Trump in a statewide poll.
In the upcoming U.S. Senate race, the poll found Democrats to be torn on who should be nominated to take on Republican Senator John Cornyn in 2020. MJ Hegar led the poll with 10 percent, followed by State Sen. Royce West at 8 percent, former Houston City Councilman Chris Bell at 7 percent, and Councilwoman Amanda Edwards at 5 percent.
