President Donald Trump has widened his lead over Democrat Joe Biden in Texas, a brand new poll shows.
The new poll released by Pulse Opinion Research on Thursday has Trump leading Biden in Texas, 51-44 percent. Respondents to the poll also favored Republican U.S. Sen. John Cornyn over his Democrat opponent MJ Hegar, 48-39 percent.
According to the poll, Trump holds a double-digit lead among men in Texas, 58-37 percent, while Biden holds a narrow lead among women, 49-45 percent.
Pundits have pointed out the result of this poll could be significant, as Pulse Opinion Research accurately forecasted the result of the 2018 U.S. Senate race in Texas between Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke, a race which Cruz won by 3 points. A September 2018 poll by the company gave Cruz a 3 point lead in the state.
This poll did not include the other two listed candidates on the ballot in Texas, Libertarian Jo Jorgensen or Green Howie Hawkins.
Early voting will begin on Tuesday, October 13. Election Day is November 3.
