Tom Scherlen has filed for a second term on Amarillo City Council.

“I’m passionate about continuing the work to improve our neighborhoods, strengthen our economy, and make Amarillo the best it can be,” said Scherlen.

On an updated campaign website, Scherlen points to community engagement, defending constitutional rights, public safety enhancements, infrastructure improvements, senior citizen advocacy, and responsible budgeting as first-term accomplishments.

Scherlen was first elected to City Council in 2023, where he won a first-round majority in a field of three candidates.

Scherlen already has his first challenger, Amarillo Matters donor and businessman David Prescott.
