A new political group seems to have been launched ahead of the upcoming May city election.
Growing Amarillo PAC, which was filed with the Texas Ethics Commission in December, has so far kept quiet, with little presence outside of a website and Facebook page.
So far, the only financial activity reported by the PAC is a $91 in-kind donation of a P.O. Box from former Amarillo Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors member Scott Bentley.
According to business records, a non-profit corporation sharing the name of the PAC has also been filed, with the board of directors consisting of Scott Bentley, former AEDC Chairman Andrew Hall, and Supporters of the AEDC co-founder Lloyd Brown.
Notably, neither the PAC nor the non-profit are officially located in Amarillo. The address on file for both is the office of CFO Shield, a company located in Hurst, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth. Additionally, Fred Tate of CFO Shield is listed as the PAC’s treasurer.
With the local political landscape still dealing with the fallout from the RANGE controversy, debates over the AEDC are expected to play a key role in the city election.
