Amarillo Economic Development Corporation member Ginger Nelson made it official, on Tuesday, announcing her bid for Mayor of Amarillo.
At Amarillo College, Nelson announced her candidacy for the office of Mayor. At the event, Nelson announced her intention to focus on the “basics.”
Nelson, who currently serves as a member of the AEDC, is a local lawyer in the community. Nelson, a mother of three, is married to Kevin Nelson. Together, the Nelsons own the historic Amarillo Building downtown.
Incumbent Mayor Paul Harpole has not announced his plans regarding a bid for reelection. Another potential opponent for Nelson is incumbent City Councilmember Elisha Demerson.
