Governor Greg Abbott delivered his State of the State address today at the Texas Capitol building.
According to the Texas Tribune, Abbott laid out four key issues for this legislative session. The issues are: "banning sanctuary cities", "reforming Child Protective Services," "implementing meaningful ethics reform," and "passing resolution calling for a convention of the states."
Abbott also announced that he will direct state agencies to impose a hiring freeze. Abbott said that this move will free up about $200 million in the state's current budget.
Abbott issued a video, which lined out his key issues, prior to the speech. The video can be viewed on gov.texas.gov.
