The Amarillo Police Department is reporting that a 74-year-old man died following a car accident on Georgia Street on Saturday.
APD reports that officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of South Georgia Street on the report of a crash. A 2011 Chevy Malibu driven by David Joshua Taylor, 29, had been southbound on Georgia at a high rate of speed. Taylor collided with a 1996 Toyota Camry driven by Stanley Martinez, 74.
Following the impact, the Toyota Camry began to spin and collided with a 2012 Honda Ridgeline, driven by Christopher Wieck, 60.
Martinez was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries. A passenger in Martinez's vehicle, an 81-year-old female, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Taylor was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn has ordered an autopsy on Martinez.
David Joshua Taylor was arrested and booked into the Potter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center for Intoxicated Manslaughter.
Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the collision.
