Two Taken to Hospital Following Motorcycle Wreck

Amarillo Police are reporting that two victims were taken to an area hospital following a motorcycle wreck on Sunday night.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched on Sunday night to the 1700 block of southbound Canyon Drive on a motorcycle wreck. A 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was southbound on Canyon Drive, taking the westbound Interstate 40 connector ramp. The Harley, driven by a 55-year-old male, failed to maintain a single lane and struck an orange barrel, causing the driver to lose control and strike a guard rail.

The driver of the Harley was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 43-year-old passenger was also taken to a local hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. Neither subject was wearing a helmet.

This incident is under investigation. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.
