Texans for Fiscal Responsibility has endorsed Drew Brassfield in the Republican primary race for the district 87 Texas House of Representatives spot.
Brassfield, Fritch city manager, launched his bid against incumbent State Representative Four Price (R-Amarillo) earlier this year. Today, Brassfield picked up his first major endorsement as the organization announced its support for his campaign against the incumbent Price.
In a statement, TFR's president, Michael Quinn Sullivan, praised Brassfield as bold and common sense candidate.
"Drew Brassfield will fight for the conservative values and principles that Texans hold dear. He will support property tax reform and work to cut wasteful spending,” said Sullivan. “Drew Brassfield will be the kind of bold, commonsense lawmaker taxpayers are demanding."
Also in local election news, TFR endorsed Jason Huddleston, a Perryton insurance broker, in his district 88 Republican primary challenge against incumbent Representative Ken King (R-Canadian).
"Jason Huddleston is a conservative leader and businessman who knows the damage big government and overregulation can do to Texas’ economy,” Sullivan said in a statement. "Ken King is one of the most liberal Republicans in the House and Jason Huddleston’s no-nonsense approach to public policy and conservative values will serve his constituents well."
The Republican primary for both races will be held in March of 2018.
