Representative Four Price (R-Amarillo) is raising some big bucks in an effort to win re-election in 2018.
Price reported this week raising about $154,000 during the most recent reporting period in his race against Fritch city manager Drew Brassfield. Price also reported about $65,000 in expenditures during the reporting cycle.
On the other side of the fence, Brassfield spent more than he brought in during the most recent fundraising cycle. Brassfield reported raising about $10,000, while also spending about $19,000.
Both Price and Brassfield reporting receiving support from political action committees during the most recent reporting period. Brassfield reported a direct contribution from Empower Texans, while Price reported independent expenditures from Amarillo Matters, as well as direct contributions from multiple PAC's, both inside and outside of Texas.
Voters will decide this race for the House District 87 seat in the March 6th Republican primary. Because no Democrat or third-party candidate has filed to run, the winner of this primary will likely take the seat during the 86th Legislative Session.
