Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick called on Speaker Joe Straus to make appointments to the Texas Commission on Public School Finance in a statement today.
On Monday morning, Patrick called upon Straus to make appointments to the newly created board, as Speaker Straus has yet to announce any appointees to the commission.
“Speaker Straus has so far failed to make any appointments to the School Finance Commission," Patrick said in a statement. "The deadline for making these appointments was December 14. If the speaker is truly serious about working on this issue, he will announce his appointments soon."
Members of the board will be part of the first school reform commission since 1984, according to Patrick's office.
The board currently has enough members to call a quorum in the case that Straus does not appoint any members to the commission.
