Potter County officials are telling residents to be aware of a new phone scam that has reached the area.
According to Potter County, the new phone scam tells the recipient that they have a warrant for their arrest due to failure to appear at jury duty. The recipient is then directed to pay a fine to make up for the failure to appear. Authorities say that the caller is using the name of "Chief Johnson" when speaking to recipients.
Those who receive such a call are directed to not pay the fine and to alert Potter County authorities.
