Potter County Residents Targeted by New Phone Scam

The Potter County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a new scam that is targeting Potter County residents.

According to the Potter County Sheriff's Office, residents began reporting a new phone scam on Friday. Officers say that a person is calling residents and claiming to be Lieutenant Scott Giles with the "Warrants and Citations Division." The person also is reported to have a convincing "West Texas accent."

If you are ever contacted by a person claiming to be with the Potter County Sheriff's Office, please remember that the Sheriff's Office will never ask for money. If you are targeted by this scam, you are asked to get the caller's information and contact the Sheriff's Office at 806-379-2900.
