Greg Sagan has filed the paperwork to run for the United States Congress in 2018.
Sagan, an Amarillo Democrat, announced his campaign this summer, saying that he planned to run as a Democrat to unseat incumbent Republican representative Mac Thornberry. Sagan has spent the last few months collecting signatures and donations in an effort to challenge Thornberry.
On Wednesday morning, Sagan announced that he had filed the nessecary application with the Texas Democratic Party to earn a place on the ballot in 2018.
Sagan is a veteran of the United States Navy and is a former newspaper columnist.
Candidates have until December 11th to file for a spot on the ballot. Primary election day is on March 6th.
