APD Arrests Suspect in June Manslaughter Case

The Amarillo Police Department has arrested a suspect in a June manslaughter case stemming from an assault.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, on June 13th, officers were sent to a local hospital to collect an assault report. Officers found that the assault had actually happened earlier in the afternoon in the 6100 block of McKay. Officers determined Patrick Chrisman, 63, to be the victim. Chrisman was the care worker for the home.

Chrisman became involved in a dispute with Juan Sanmiguel, 21. Sanmiguel pushed Chrisman causing him to fall backwards and hit his head. According to APD, Chrisman was conscious, but later became ill in the afternoon.

Chrisman was admitted to the hospital and died on June 15th from the injury. Judge Gary Jackson ordered an autopsy and the cause of death was determined to be a result of a homicide. 

Sanmiguel was arrested on June 20th and was booked into the Randall County Jail on a charge on manslaughter.
