One reliever is gone from the Texas Rangers organization and other has been claimed, according to reports from ESPN.
The Rangers sold the contract of reliever Ernesto Friere to the Seattle Mariners today. The cost of the contract was reported to be $1. The Rangers signed Friere earlier this summer and he held a record of 0-1 for the season.
Following the Friere transaction, Texas claimed Jhan Marinez off of waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Marinez, 28, was claimed today after being placed on the waivers by Pittsburgh. There is no official word as to where Marinez will fit in the bullpen this season but it is expected that he will be auditioning for a role in the 2018 season for the organization.
