Texas officials are reacting following the impact of Hurricane Harvey's landing on Saturday.
Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast on Saturday morning as residents in the Galveston area took the first hit from the storm. The effects of the storm were seen in many locations in South Texas as homes were destroyed, streets and walkways were flooded and vehicles were submerged.
Following the impact of the storm, Governor Greg Abbott has been briefed and has held press conferences, updating the residents of Texas on the current operations in response to Harvey. Governor Abbott also announced the opening of Texas parks to hurricane victims and many shelters and non-profits around Texas have been sheltering those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Airbnb has announced that it is waiving all fees for the victims of the storm and the American Red Cross has been working to respond to the storm.
It is expected that by the end of the storm's run, some areas of Texas will see upwards of 50 inches of rain, according to the New York Times.
