APD Makes 10 DUI Arrests Over Weekend

Ten people were arrested on DUI charges in Amarillo over the weekend.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers made ten DUI arrests in Amarillo from December 30th through January 1st. The locations of the arrests were as follows: Amarillo Boulevard and Martin Road; 7400 block of Mosley; Olsen and Western; Southeast 7th and South Taylor; Southwest 34th and Eddy; Western and Winchester; Georgia and Wolflin; Republic and Virginia; Bushland and Western and 1900 S. Washington.

Officers were alerted to the violations in a variety of ways. According to APD, some suspects were found speeding, swerving into a lane without signaling, or wrong way on a one-way street. One driver was also found passed out behind the wheel at a signal light, and another driver ran off the roadway and hit a tree.

There were not major accidents caused by intoxicated drivers over the weekend in Amarillo.
