APD to Host Ribbon Cutting

The Amarillo Police Department would like to invite you to the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for our newest Neighborhood Police Unit (NPU) satellite office. This office is in the Maverick Boys & Girls Clubs of Amarillo at 1923 S. Lincoln, and will serve the Southlawn community. The ceremony will be on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, from 4:30-5:30pm at the new office location.

This NPO office will provide the Maverick Club and Southlawn area with the services of the police officers who concentrate their efforts in accordance with the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing and Problem Oriented Policing. They will provide residents with a central source of assistance for both law enforcement and non-law enforcement type problems. They welcome the community to stop by their new office at the Maverick Boys & Girls Club to say Hello.

During the school year, the Maverick BGCA provides after school care at 4 different locations and can serve up to 500 children. 300 of those spots are reserved for the Maverick location. All day care is provided during summer months. Many academic enrichment programs, art, music, sports, mentorships, as well as other opportunities are provided for the children to participate in. All club locations currently have openings and parents can register their children on the website.
