In Houston tonight, the race for the U.S. Senate is not the only big ticket item on the ballot.
On Tuesday night, voters in Houston will decide whether to approve pay raises for firefighters in the city. Proposition B has been placed on the ballot, as firefighters are seeking to require the City of Houston to pay firefighters and police officers equally, based on job title and experience.
Although the proposition has the support of some firefighters, City officials are not fully behind the issue. Houston mayor Sylvester Turner has endorsed against the proposition, saying Houston cannot afford the pay increases guaranteed under the proposition.
If passed, the proposition will go into effect on January 1st.
