Amarillo Police Investigating Attempted Bank Robbery

Amarillo Police are investigating an attempted robbery this morning at a bank in South Amarillo.

According to APD, just before 8AM on December 3rd, an employee of the Citizens Bank at 4117 South Georgia was exiting their vehicle when a male suspect pointed a gun at them and demanded to be let into the closed bank and be given money. The employee started to walk to the door of the bank when the suspect left on foot toward 42nd Street.

Officers say the suspect is described as being a Hispanic or black male, wearing a hooded blue sweatshirt. The employee said the suspect was carrying a black handgun. The suspect did not get any money and the employee was uninjured.

Anyone with information is asked to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400 or leave an anonymous tip on the APD website.
