Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) voted with a bipartisan majority of U.S. House members on Thursday to approve a bill aimed at giving technology and cybersecurity support to Ukraine.
In the vote, Thornberry joined with a bipartisan majority to approve H.R. 1997, or the "Ukraine Cybersecurity Cooperation Act of 2017." If approved, the bill will provide technology and cybersecurity support to Ukraine in an effort to reduce Ukraine's reliance on Russian technology.
The House of Representatives voted 404-3 to approve the bill. The three members voting against the bill were Justin Amash (R-Michigan), John Duncan (R-Tennessee), and Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky).
H.R. 1997, authored by Brendan F. Boyle (D-Pennsylvania) will now advance to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
