Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) voted this week to approve a bill aimed at cutting Medicare payments to pharmacies under investigation for fraud.
According to a roll call journal from the U.S. House of Representatives, Thornberry joined an overwhelming majority on Tuesday to approve the bill. The bill passed the U.S. House by a 356-3 vote, with the dissenting votes coming from Republicans Justin Amash (R-Michigan), Mo Brooks (R-Alabama) and Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky). Sixty-eight House members were counted as not voting.
H.R. 5676, titled the "SENIOR Community Protections Act," would amend Title XVIII of the Social Security Act to authorize the suspension of Medicare prescription drug plans and MA-PD plans due to pending investigations of "credible" allegations of fraud by pharmacies.
