Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) voted to end a budgetary standoff on Friday morning when he joined a majority of U.S. House members in approving H.R.1892 - The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018.
Thornberry joined a bipartisan majority of U.S. House members in seeing the bill's 240-186 passage. The bill was backed by a majority of Republicans and around 70 Democrats in securing its passage. The majority of those voting against the bill were Democratic representatives.
Following the bill's passage in the U.S. House, Senators backed approval by a 71-28 margin with Texas' senators, Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, approving the bill's passage. President Donald Trump signed the bill later on Friday morning.
The bill's passage ends the federal government shutdown that began at midnight on Friday morning.
