WTAMU Speaker to Discuss Spanish Conquest of Mexico

A literature expert will speak at West Texas A&M University next week on the topic of the Spanish conquest of Mexico.

Dr. Pablo García Loaeza, professor at West Virginia University, will speak at WTAMU on Wednesday, April 18th, to present his lecture, “Translating the Conquest of Mexico.” The lecture will be presented at 6pm in the Cornette Library and is presented by the WTAMU Department of English, Philosophy and Modern Languages.

Garcia Loaeza is a well-known literary expert, who has focused extensively on mordern and colonial Spanish American literature. His newest book, The Native Conquistador: Alva Ixtlilxochitl’s Account of the Conquest of New Spain, is a translation of an indigenous narrative detailing the complex alliances during the Spanish conquest of Mexico, according to WTAMU.

If you would like information on Garcia Loaeza's lecture, please contact Dr. Timothy Foster at tfoster@wtamu.edu.
