Fire Crews Battle Tuesday Grass Fire

Crews with the Amarillo Fire Department battled a grass fire on Tuesday night in the area of 1400 Kimberly.

According to the Amarillo Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 5:09pm to the area of 1400 Kimberly on the report of a grass fire. Crews arrived and found a grass fire in the area of the old air base golf course, near Northeast 8th and FM 1912.

Thirteen crews from the AFD and crews from Potter County Fire, the Texas A&M Forest Service and the City of Amarillo Street Department responded to the scene. Several houses to the west of the fire were threatened, but crews kept the fire from spreading.

No structures were lost and no injuries were reported. The Amarillo Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
