Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) voted this week to label a possible carbon tax as "detrimental" to the United States economy.
On Wednesday, Thornberry joined a majority of U.S. House members in voting for a resolution calling a possible carbon tax "detrimental." The resolution passed the U.S. House on a 229-183 vote, with all but three Democrats voting against the measure.
The resolution, proposed by Representative Dan Newhouse (R-Washington) is meant to provide Congress' take on a possible carbon tax. In recent months, calls for a carbon tax in the United States have increased from some pundits and elected officials and it is reported that a member of the U.S. House is planning to introduce such legislation in the coming weeks to levy a carbon tax on certain industries.
