Thornberry Votes to Approve Natural Gas Bill

A bill to amend the Natural Gas Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday with the support of Amarillo's congressman.

On Thursday, Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) voted to approve the Ensuring Small Scale LNG Certainty and Access Act. The bill, penned by Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Ohio), would amend the Natural Gas Act to "state that an application under the Natural Gas Act for the importation or exportation of natural gas that does not exceed 0.14 billion cubic feet per day shall be granted without modification or delay."

The bill passed the U.S. House on Thursday in a 260-146 vote, with 223 Republicans and 37 Democrats voting to approve, while 3 Republicans and 143 Democrats voted against. 23 members were not in the chamber for the vote.
