Harper Announces Candidacy for Amarillo City Council

Treva Harper is running for the Amarillo City Council.

Harper has announced her candidacy for Place 2 on the Amarillo City Council. That seat is currently held by incumbent Councilwoman Freda Powell, who is running for re-election. Harper is a self-described “conservatarian,” who says she is running on a platform of “fiscal responsibility, transparency, citizen representation, and most of all freedom for the people.”

With her announcement, Harper has become the first candidate to challenge Powell in 2019. Every other incumbent, with the exception of Councilman Eddy Sauer, has already drawn at least one challenger for the upcoming election. The election will be held on May 4th.
