Amarillo Teen Passes Following Car Wreck

One person is dead following a car wreck in the 400 block of South Grand.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, on the evening of October 15th, an APD officer drove up on a collision in the 400 block of South Grand. It was determined that Adrian Ruiz, 19, had been northbound on South Grand in a 2004 Dodge 1500 when he lost control and the vehicle crossed both southbound lanes, hit a curb, drove through a fence, and hit a livestock barn at the Tri-State Fairgrounds.

Ruiz was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries received in the crash. Speed and no seatbelt are believed to be factors in the crash, according to APD.

Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson has ordered an autopsy and this incident is being investigated by the APD Traffic Investigation Squad.
