John B. Love, III is the latest candidate to join the race for Texas’ U.S. Senate seat.
Love, a Democrat currently serving as a Midland City Councilman and as president of the Texas Municipal League, filed the paperwork this week to run in the Democratic primary for the Senate seat currently held by Republican John Cornyn.
The announcement adds yet another candidate to the growing field of candidates hoping to oust Cornyn in 2020. On the Democratic side, Love enters a field that already includes candidates such as Royce West, MJ Hegar, Cristina Ramirez, Amanda Edwards, and Chris Bell. Meanwhile, on the Republican side, Mark Yancey and Dwayne Stovall are challenging Cornyn, with State Sen. Pat Fallon also exploring a bid.
Candidates can begin filing officially for spots on the ballot in November.
