APD: One Dead Following Sunday Accident

Amarillo Police are reporting one person has died following an accident on Sunday night.

According to APD, officers were dispatched to Southwest 9th Avenue and Bushland Avenue on Sunday, responding to the report of an accident involving a motorcycle and vehicle. A 2005 Harley Davidson, driven by Tristan Stewart, 34, had been westbound on 9th Avenue. Stewart lost control of the motorcycle and crossed into eastbound traffic lanes, striking a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan head-on.

Stewart died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The 64-year-old driver of the Dodge was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Stewart was not wearing a helmet.

Speed is a possible factor in this wreck. This incident remains under investigation by the APD Traffic Investigation Squad.
