Editorial: Pioneer Set for Biggest Candidate Forum Yet

When the Amarillo Pioneer’s candidate forum is held next month, it will be without a doubt the biggest one we have held to date and arguably the biggest and best one to be held in Amarillo ahead of the March 3rd primary elections.

On Tuesday, February 11th, we are inviting Amarillo voters to come out and meet the candidates running to represent you at the courthouse, at the statehouse, and in Washington. Candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and numerous county offices will be in attendance. In fact, several of the leading candidates for U.S. Senate will be there and the entire field of candidates in the 13th District U.S. House race will be in attendance, with the exception of Amarillo City Councilwoman Elaine Hays, who declined our invitation due to a prior commitment.

Each candidate will be offered time to speak and voters will have the chance to submit written questions for our candidates to answer. Voters and candidates will also be encouraged to mingle after the event.

As in past years, this forum will be held at the American Legion Post 54 in downtown Amarillo, beginning at 6:30PM on February 11th. We are excited that Josh Tillerson and the American Legion are hosting us once again and that we will provide local voters with a chance to meet the candidates running from across the state.

We hope you will join us!
