Republican Ronny Jackson is the clear leader in the fundraising game, as voters head to the polls in Texas’ 13th Congressional District to decide the successor for outgoing U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon).
According to finance reports filed over the past two weeks, Jackson is firmly ahead in the fundraising race against his Democratic opponent, Amarillo office manager Gus Trujillo. Jackson brought in $91,274 during the most recent period, bringing his total contributions through the campaign to $1,768,669. Jackson also ended the fundraising cycle on October 14 with $362,165 left on-hand.
Meanwhile, Trujillo reported bringing in $20,019 since last November, with $6,589 on-hand in the final days of the campaign.
Libertarian Jack B. Westbrook ,the third man in the race, has not filed any campaign finance reports related to his congressional bid.
Jackson, Trujillo, and Westbrook will face off on the November 3 Election Day. The winner of the contest will become the first new Representative for Texas’ 13th Congressional District in over 25 years.
