Dr. Ronny Jackson has picked up another major endorsement in his race to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon).
On Thursday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce confirmed to The Pioneer that it has endorsed the Republican Jackson in the general election in Texas’ 13th Congressional District.
“In difficult times, we are reminded of the importance of having leaders that understand the genius of the American system of government and free enterprise and who are willing to tackle the hard problems that confront our nation,” U.S. Chamber CEO Thomas J. Donohue said in a statement. “As our nation faces many challenges and is collectively working to not just reopen our economy but return to growth and expanded opportunities for all Americans, we need leaders like Ronny Jackson. He has a proven track record of standing up for good policies. The U.S. Chamber is proud to endorse Ronny and looks forward to partnering with him in the future.”
This is just the latest endorsement for Jackson, who many pundits have named a heavy favorite in the 13th Congressional District race. In addition to his numerous organization endorsements, Jackson is also endorsed by President Donald Trump.
Jackson is set to face Democrat Gus Trujillo and Libertarian Jack B. Westbrook in November. The winner of the race will represent the congressional district which includes Amarillo, Wichita Falls, and other communities in the Panhandle and North Texas, becoming the first new representative for Texas’ 13th District since Thornberry first took office in 1995.
