Former Physician to the President Dr. Ronny Jackson picked up another major endorsement last week in his bid to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon).
Young Conservatives of Texas announced its endorsement for Jackson last week. The organization, which represents college-aged conservatives across Texas, previously endorsed businessman Chris Ekstrom in the March 3 Republican primary race.
“Dr. Ronny Jackson has dedicated his life to public service, proudly serving our nation in both the Navy and the Marines,” YCT Executive Director Manfred Wendt said. “Having interviewed Dr. Jackson, we know that he is a rock solid conservative, who will fight for the values of all West Texans. He is a self made man and is not beholden to any special interests, who seek to represent their interests over the interests of the people of the district.”
Jackson will face former lobbyist Josh Winegarner in the July 14 Republican runoff in the 13th Congressional District. The winner of the runoff will advance to the general election to face former congressional intern Democrat Gus Trujillo and Libertarian Jack B. Westbrook.
