Amarillo’s deputy city manager is set to retire.

According to the City of Amarillo, deputy city manager Michelle Bonner has announced her retirement, effective May 20. Bonner has been a longtime staple of the Amarillo local government system, working in various roles since 1992.

In a statement, Bonner said she is grateful for the work she has accomplished over her career in Amarillo.

“I have been given many opportunities while working for the city,” Bonner said. “I am continually awed at the great people that I work with (and have worked with) over 28 years. My family and I are very blessed to be part of the city. As I end my career with the city, I feel that my greatest passion is for my fellow employees and for this community.”
