Former Texas Tech University System Chancellor Bob Duncan has endorsed Josh Winegarner in the July 14 Republican runoff for U.S. House District 13.
The endorsement was announced in a press release from Winegarner’s campaign. The endorsement from Duncan, who also served as a State Senator, follows Winegarner’s recent endorsement from former U.S. Senator Phil Gramm.
“In response to this pandemic, far-reaching new policies will be passed in Washington that will impact Texas for decades to come,” Duncan said in the press release. “I represented part of the 13th District in the Texas Senate, and I am confident that Josh understands the unique needs of these communities and will fight for the people of his district. Josh Winegarner is the voice we need in Washington, and I am proud to endorse him for Congress.”
Winegarner is opposed by former White House Physician Ronny Jackson in the runoff for the seat. The winner of the runoff will face Democrat Gus Trujillo and Libertarian Jack B. Westbrook in the November election.
