Gus Trujillo earned his spot in the November general election for U.S. House District 13 on Tuesday night.
Trujillo, a former office manager for the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, handily beat U.S. Navy veteran Greg Sagan in the Democratic runoff for U.S. House District 13 on Tuesday, taking 66 percent of the vote against Sagan’s 34 percent.
The win gives the Democratic Party a fresh face for the November election, as Sagan was previously the party’s nominee for U.S. House District 13 in 2020, losing an uphill battle against incumbent U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon).
With his victory, Trujillo will now move on to face Republican Ronny Jackson and Libertarian Jack B. Westbrook in November.
