The Canyon Economic Development Corporation announced this week its decision to commit $200,000 to the Kylie Hiner Memorial Playground project.

According to the City of Canyon, a citizen committee and the Southwest Chapter of AMBUCS are currently in a fundraising phase for the 9,000 square foot project, which will be located in Conner Park. The fundraising goal for the project is $1.2 million.

“The CEDC is excited about the opportunity to be involved with this unique project here in Canyon.  One of our goals for Canyon is to offer the best possible amenities for our community and that includes our recreational facilities.  The CEDC has invested over $1.5 million into projects in Canyon parks and this is an opportunity to invest in a truly unique playground that our community and the region will benefit from,” Canyon EDC director Evelyn Ecker said in a statement.

A second reading of the CEDC commitment and a formal presentation will be held next week on September 21, at the 4:30pm City Commission meeting.
