Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen West has contracted COVID-19 and has been hospitalized due to pneumonia as a result of the virus.
According to reports, West was admitted to a hospital after contracting the virus and after an X-ray showed he has pneumonia.
“There’s a concern about my oxygen saturation levels, which are at 89 and they should be at 95,” West tweeted.
The reports of West’s diagnosis triggered well wishes from his primary opponents in next year’s contest for governor. Chad Prather, a comedian and talk show host who is opposing West, tweeted well wishes to West, wishing him a quick recovery.
“Praying for Lt Col Allen West and his wife, Angela,” Prather tweeted. “Speedy and full recovery. As for the media that chooses to criticize his choices for treatment: The media doesn’t understand the concept of freedom and they can kick rocks.”
Former State Sen. Don Huffines, another West opponent, also tweeted to the Republican candidate, saying that he is praying for his recovery.
“Get well soon Allen and Angela,” Huffines tweeted.
