Authorities are asking residents to help solve a 2016 hit and run incident as part of this week’s Crime of the Week.

According to Amarillo Police, on June 5, 2016, 28-year-old Jana Pittman from Nederland, Texas, was visiting friends in Amarillo. She was walking in the area of I-40 and Bell. Around 4:40am, officers were dispatched to I-40 and Alice near the frontage road on the report of a motor vehicle accident involving Pittman.

While walking, Pittman had been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene and Pittman later died from injuries she sustained in the collision. Since the incident, the driver and vehicle have never been identified.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved is red in color with damage to the front passenger side. It is possible the vehicle is a Ford pickup.

If you have any information on this crime, you are asked to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400.
