Darryl Wertz, the Constable for Potter County’s Precinct 1, announced on Thursday night that he will be seeking re-election next year.

Wertz, a Republican who is elected out of Potter County’s southernmost district, told attendees at the Conservative Patriots 4 Texas meeting that he is seeking re-election. Wertz, a career law enforcement officer, was first elected to his position in 2012. As a constable, Wertz is a county officer who is responsible for conducting routine law enforcement activities, serving court documents and civil papers, processing evictions, and serving as the bailiff for the justice of the peace court in Precinct 1.

Thus far, no challengers have emerged for Wertz’s position. In addition to Wertz, Constable Georgia Estrada, who is elected from Precinct 2, has also announced her candidacy for re-election.

The Republican primary election is scheduled for March 5, 2024.
