Potter County Commissioner H.R. Kelly announced on Thursday night that he will be seeking another term in office.
Kelly, who was first elected to the Potter County Commissioners’ Court in 2008, announced at the Conservative Patriots 4 Texas meeting on Thursday that he is seeking re-election to his fifth term in office. During his announcement, Kelly said he was proud of his work on various county projects, which he believes have prepared him for another term. In particular, Kelly highlighted the controversial new Potter County District Courts building as one project he has helped bring to fruition during his time in office.
Thus far, Kelly has two opponents for his re-election bid — business owner Chip Hunt and educator David Martinez. Hunt also spoke at the event on Thursday night, during which she highlighted her support for term limits and fiscal responsibility.
Candidate filing for this position runs until December 11. The primary election is scheduled for March 5, 2023.
