Randall County Sheriff Chris Forbis is officially seeking re-election to a second term in office.

On Wednesday, Forbis announced that he has filed to seek re-election as sheriff in Randall County. Forbis, a Republican, was first elected in 2020, and replaced Sheriff Joel Richardson, who did not seek re-election.

In a statement, Forbis highlighted his accomplishments and stated that he plans to continue improving Randall County, if re-elected.

“My team at the office and I have had the opportunity to undertake several challenges on your behalf since I took office,” Forbis noted. “We have broken ground on a jail expansion, began the path to law enforcement accreditation, expanded our jail ministry and tackled many others challenges. We have worked diligently to provide professional services in our fast-growing county, while being fiscally responsible, and keeping public safety first and foremost in our works. We have partnered with the school districts to improve school security. We have dedicated our deputies to walk through of schools, assisted with lockdown drills and provided safety assessments. I will continue to defend the constitution and your rights against all that would infringe upon them.”

Thus far, Forbis is the only candidate running for sheriff in Randall County in 2024. The Republican primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
